Bring Your Setup and Programming Skills to Specialty Manufacturing

Big Bolt LLC is seeking a CNC Setup Programmer with hands-on DMG MORI experience to manufacture custom and specialty fasteners at our Bloomingdale, IL facility.

In this role, you’ll put your machining knowledge to work through setup, programming, operation, inspection, and troubleshooting. You’ll work with engineering drawings, select tooling and cutting parameters, and make the adjustments needed to produce accurate, quality parts.

Successful applicants will have practical experience setting up and programming DMG MORI equipment and be comfortable explaining the work they have personally performed.

What You’ll Do

• Set up, program, and operate DMG MORI CNC machines to manufacture custom and non-standard specialty fasteners.

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.

• Select and install tooling and establish appropriate offsets, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters.

• Make CNC program and machine adjustments to meet specifications and improve machining performance.

• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.

• Troubleshoot setup problems, machining issues, and dimensional variations.

• Monitor part quality and tool wear, making corrections as needed.

• Work independently on assigned jobs and communicate with the manufacturing team to resolve production challenges.

• Maintain a safe, organized work area and support efficient manufacturing processes.

What You’ll Bring

Required qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with DMG MORI CNC equipment, including setup and programming.

• Ability to make and troubleshoot CNC program adjustments.

• Experience with CNC turning and/or milling.

• Ability to read engineering drawings and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

• Knowledge of tooling selection, offsets, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters.

• Ability to inspect your work using precision measuring tools.

• Mechanical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Applicants with 1–2 years of relevant DMG MORI experience are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate the setup and programming skills outlined above.

Experience manufacturing fasteners or other custom precision components is a plus.
